How to Clean Your Leather Phone Case

There’s something beautiful about a shiny phone case. But there’s also something ugly about a dirty and stained phone case. How do our cases get stained? Well, humidity, heat, dust, and friction are a few things that play a huge part in that.

So to ensure that your leather phone case always looks great, you need to regularly clean it. Let’s learn how to clean your leather phone case.

Cleaning Your Leather Phone Case

The process is simple and takes only a few minutes. Do it now and then so that your leather phone case ages gracefully.

Step 1: Remove your phone from its case. Make sure that your phone case is completely empty. You want to avoid your phone to come in contact with soap and water. In the case of a wallet phone case, check if there’s any cash or cards inside it. If so, take them out.

Step 2: Use warm water to wet a cotton cloth and add a small amount of leather cleaner to it. A pinch of leather cleaner will be enough. Rub the cloth with itself so that the soap spreads all across.

Step 3: Rub the case in a circular motion. Go over the whole case while focusing on the dirty parts more. Do this multiple times. Rub gently because too much pressure can cause the leather to stretch. Don’t leave any excess leather cleaner on the case: wipe it away immediately.

Step 4: Give the case some time to dry before putting the phone back in. It shouldn’t take more than a few minutes. Double-check before you put the phone back in. Otherwise, your phone can damage.

Maintaining Your Leather Phone Case

Premium leather phone cases are durable. Still, you should maintain them to get the most bang for your buck. Here’s how:

1. Protect your case from heat and intense sunlight.

Leather loses its natural color when exposed to sunlight. It doesn’t damage the leather entirely, just changes its color.

2. A great way to keep your case stain-free is to keep it dry.

Water and other liquids cause stains on leather. So whenever your case gets wet, wipe it immediately and keep it in a dry place. Once it’s dry, use a leather care product on it. Also, keep your case away from oil, makeup, and dyed materials.

3. Use leather conditioner monthly to keep your case looking supple.

Make sure to apply just a tiny amount. You can find this product at chain retailers or your local hardware store. If you can’t find a leather conditioner, use mink oil instead.

Invest in a Durable Case

Your leather phone case will get dirty over time, so you’ll need to clean it once in a while. But if you invest in a high-quality case, it will require less cleaning and last you a long time.
