The standard clip is wonderful and is the reason why I purchased a Turtle Back case. This "J" clip is like Fort Knox! It goes on easy but will not come off without some effort. I can't see a way it would fall off my belt unless my belt tore off.
I used this clip initially with the holster because I didn't want to take apart my duty belt to use it with the permanent belt clip. I like this clip - it's small and seemed to "hug" my duty belt well. I like its design and practicality. I will keep it in the event my other clip fails. I would recommend using this piece in place of the velcro one - they both accomplish the same thing, and this is just "cleaner." Good job.
